ASCENT

The Ascent is an "in-progress" public sculpture inspired by the history, perseverance, and community spirit of Chapman Hill. At its core are two weathered steel I-beams reclaimed from the original Big Tow, the iconic rope tow that served generations of skiers for more than 80 years. Rising from a base of vintage skis and culminating in the original suspended tow-wheel, the sculpture transforms historic infrastructure into a symbol of resilience, progress, and aspiration. By preserving and reimagining pieces of Chapman Hill's past, The Ascent honors the countless individuals whose efforts, challenges, and achievements have shaped the hill's enduring legacy.
